The Music of Ranunculus Bakery — A Little Charm, A Little Magic

When we exhibited at Shonan T-SITE, we released the concept video for Ranunculus Bakery — and the BGM used in that video is actually the theme song for the bakery that appears in our next film, Ranunculus Bakery.
Ranunculus Bakery is a pink-walled bakery at King's Cross station. It's the place our protagonist Nora visits every weekend to unwind after a long week of work. And it's also a place where magic happens.
So we wanted the music to feel bright and light — but with just a hint of something mysterious, like a gentle invitation into another world.
When you think of music for a magical moment, you probably imagine something grand and sweeping, right? But this time, I thought of that kind of music as the sound of magic actively happening — the moment it strikes.
At this bakery, magic isn't happening all the time. On most days, it just sits quietly on the platform at King's Cross, doing nothing more than filling the air with wonderful smells. (Though of course, it does put smiles on plenty of faces!)
The real magic only happens when Nora visits — and meets a certain someone.
That's why the Ranunculus Bakery theme is rooted in the warm, charming atmosphere of an everyday bakery, with just a whisper of something about to happen woven underneath.
Since the bakery looks completely different in the morning, afternoon, and evening, the film will feature a whole range of music throughout. We hope you enjoy the soundscape of Ranunculus Bakery as much as the story itself!
